Welcome to Parenthood.

I hope you like destruction & chicken nuggets.

I had such pleasure during this session. Dad had reached out to me about buying mom a gift card for photos sometimes after Mother's day to have photos of her and their new baby done.

I was so overjoyed. A little nervous because it was surprise to mom, so it was hard to coordinate outfits and make sure I have enough in my shot list to get all the photos mom would want, and lots of poses.

So, right after I talked to dad I got onto Pinterest and Unscripted and began saving poses and ideas, making sure I lots of options. I didn't want anything too crazy as I wasn't sure how willing they would be. But I made sure I was prepared.

The day of the session came, I got to the spot about 25 minutes early, and took a quick walk around to scout out some locations I would like to use. I was nervous while I waited. Once the family showed up and we began walking and talking my nerves quickly relaxed. And this handsome little man slept almost the entirely session.

You forget how small they can be, and it's almost tragic they only stay small for such a short period of time. In the moment, it seems they drag on, all those sleepless nights. But in reality they only last a few months.

We got so lucky, they picked a day in May, which can be risky. However, we got lucky and the day was beautiful, we met early in the morning around 10 and it was even warm too!

I couldn't stop "awing" over these moments between mother and son. Mom was such a natural in front of the camera, I just let her bond and sooth the waking little man, and it was the sweetest moments.

Both mom and dad were naturals in front of the camera, there was lots of laughs and back and forth conversations. Which helped relaxed both myself and the family.

Dad at first was more trying to focus on letting mom have her moment, let her have these photos. But we managed to convince dad to get in a few with his son too. And they were so cute. It is something about new dads, even new parents that make me smile. I don't know if its the awkwardness from still learning or natural parenting that kicks in when baby gets here.

But both dad and baby were rock stars for their photos too!

When I was done the session, I was so excited to view these images on the computer. Once I opened the images up and could see them on full screen I had a good laugh, I didn't even notice all the bugs. There was so many photos where I had to photo shop out tiny little mosquitoes. It was a good little laugh.

I sent the photos out and was so happy with the results. Mom and dad were happy too! And that's when I knew this was something I really wanted to do the rest of my life.
