Welcome to taking a chance.

"do one thing everyday that scares you."

Not long after I took on my first shoot as a freelance photography and began posting photos of the session I began noticing people reaching out about booking their own sessions, which was thrilling for me but also super nerve racking. I felt almost like a fraud. How could I could I charge people for sessions when I was still just a beginner.

I had a family reach out to me in July, she was about to have a baby, and was hoping in September she could book a session. I was so excited. Of course a cute little family session.

I will not lie, not even in the slightest, I was shaking before the family even showed up. Their car rolled up and out popped this little firecracker who put all my nerves to rest. She was 4 at the time, and boy did she have a lot to say.

At times I felt she was in the spot light and she honestly didn't mind it. And I did what I do best and started clicking. I had to laugh when I got home to start editing. The many faces and personality that shined through.

Couldn't help but to smile and laugh the entire session, and all the way through editing. Little brother was not having any part of photos but sister she was loving it.

During any session, I always bring a shot list or pose ideas that I really like or think would be fun to try. Once through my list I always ask "is there any photos I missed or anything you'd like more of?" I just always want to cover all my bases and make sure the clients get exactly what they want.

As well, once I've edit the images and send them off I always add in my personal email to them, if there is anything they want me to edit in or out, or make changes to please let me know and I always happy to do so. I want the client happy I want those images to be exactly what they wanted and more, which, I know I do. I always say "10-15 images" but, I alway a heavy shooter... trigger happy if you will. So I get way more photos and I always struggle with favourites. 9 times out of 10, my clients get double what I state is in the deal.

Hoping they don't mind.

This session I think also made me nervous more so, because she reached out to me from instagram, so I had no idea who she was. But, obviously she found my work to her likings. She was willing to book me months in advance.

But, again once the session started, I wonder what I was so nervous about, the session was full of laughter and happiness. Even sister and dad sang and danced together, while mom calmed little brother. It was such a fun time.

I like to try and let a session happen natural, of course we start with the pose, and as people move natural and breath and little things happen. A little one might say something funny, and laughter happens. Or mom or even dad might sneak a kiss on their cheek and a cheeky little moment happens. I find those, are my absolute favourite moments. Almost candid .

Mom's being moms is another natural moment I love to capture, it's raw and real and you just can't beat it. Those little moments that you catch when they think no one is watching.

This being one of those "candid" moments. Sister and dad were picking flowers and mom was bouncing little brother, and I just happen to turn and capture this moment. I love the use of negative space, and how the subjects are dead middle. It was a definitely one of my top five favourites from this session. However, I had way too many favourites to be honest.
